The myth of gamers as shut ins is long dead, and tonight we explore the many communities that surround the hobby. From the forums to multiplayer, from Half-Life modders to SingStar video makers, there’s a massive social side to videogames today. The panel helped us all understand how gamers tick, and the mass psychology of hundreds of thousands of fanbois all engaging across forums, in-game chat, and the tricky issue for game publishers to keep things happy and fun.

Guest panelists: Stephen Farrelly, AusGamers.com; Chris Stead, Games journalist; Nino Kalogeropoulos, Playstation.com; Darren Wells, Hyper.

Note to Chris re: the V8 supercars and Bathurst:

Try out rFactor and the V8Factor mod. Not exactly 'next gen', but you'll at least be able to get an online race.
